Description
Certificates (3) of Public Debt for the Late Republic of Texas for Military Service. Includes:Certificate for Abraham Skidmore. One partially printed page,12 x 10 1/2 inches, Austin; June 12, 1851. A "2d Class" certificate of debt issued to Abraham Skidmore for "A Claim for Services as private in Cap' Fowlers Co in 1841 amounting to Twenty Two 50/100 Dollars..." Signed twice by John Milton Swisher as Auditor, and additionally signed by Samuel B. Shank as Comptroller. Stamped "Paid" in black ink on the recto; notarized and docketed on the verso.
Certificate for Samuel Andrews. One partially printed page, 10 x 10 inches, Austin; July 6, 1853. A "2d Class 'B'" certificate of debt issued to Samuel Andrews for "claims for services under Genl Felix Huston in 1840 & supplies furnished troops in 1842 amounting to One hundred & thirty three 33/100 Dollars." Signed by John Milton Swisher as Auditor, and Samuel B. Shank as Comptroller. Docketed on the verso.
Certificate for William McCoy. One partially printed page, 11 1/4 x 10 inches, August 16, 1854. A "Second Class, 'B'" certificate of debt issued to William McCoy for "A claim for services as Lieutenant in Capt Sanders Company in 1840 amounting to Forty one 66/100 Dollars." Signed by John Milton Swisher as Auditor, and Samuel B. Shank as Comptroller. Docketed on the verso.
Condition: Each lightly toned with smoothed folds and minor edgewear; light, scattered staining and several small pencil annotations throughout. Each with cut cancellations, touching text but not affecting legibility.
