Description

Pattern 1851 Artillery Musician's Shell Jacket.

Blue and red wool jacket with standard red worsted wool piping around the base, collar tab and chevrons of cuffs. Twelve-button, single breasted. Tan coarse wool lining stamped "U.C.I. Size 38" with a smaller purple rubber stamp on the inside left sleeve. Also marked "T E S" on the inside collar. Hand-stitching throughout. The design of the piping "rack" on the front is associated with musicians. Back of jacket has pair of standard "pillows" on the bottom edge, used to prevent the saber belt from rising out of position. Some light soiling, but in very good condition overall with no defects of "note".
