Description
Pattern 1851 Artillery Musician's Shell Jacket.Blue and red wool jacket with standard red worsted wool piping around the base, collar tab and chevrons of cuffs. Twelve-button, single breasted. Tan coarse wool lining stamped "U.C.I. Size 38" with a smaller purple rubber stamp on the inside left sleeve. Also marked "T E S" on the inside collar. Hand-stitching throughout. The design of the piping "rack" on the front is associated with musicians.
