Description
Civil War Zouave Jacket Issued to Either the 72nd Pennsylvania "Baxter's Fire Zouaves" or the 95th Pennsylvania "Gosline Zouaves".The dark blue jacket is trimmed in red worsted ½-inch tape along the collar, cuffs, and edges with a corresponding 1/8-inch line of red worsted wool trim adjacent. Fifteen of the original sixteen brass ball buttons remain on the left front; ten of the original brass balls remain on the right side. One brass ball button is affixed to each cuff (one is a later replacement). The jacket is lined with a russet brown polished cotton. There are illegible stamp markings near the neck. A very rare Civil War uniform.
Condition: Very good. Old repairs to the seam of the left sleeve; a few buttons missing as noted; old repairs to a 3-inch section on the right sleeve; a few trivial moth tracks.
