Description

About Mint US Civil War Cavalry Sergeant's Shell Jacket. Blue wool body, all piping and buttons all about perfect and original. The white cotton lining is also about perfect with bright crisp inspector's mark and size "2" in sleeve. The sergeant's stripes are of worsted wool, affixed with a slightly darker yellow thread and appear to be machine stitched. Although it is impossible to establish when the stripes were affixed, considering the condition of the coat, it appears likely they were affixed prior to the coat being issued. A set of original enlisted brass shoulder scales are also affixed to the coat. The scales are also about perfect with nice untouched patina. One of the more exceptional cavalry shell jackets we've ever cataloged.
