Description

Swedish Officers' Spiked Helmet, Circa Mid-Nineteenth Century. Measuring approximately 13 ¾-inches tall and made of leather with brass trim. Slightly convex brass chinscales secured by brass rosettes. One large 2 ¾-inch cockade on the left side. Cruciform base supporting a 5-inch spike. Stamped brass front plate currently secured to the helmet with a wire through the eyelets on the back side of the plate. Front visor trimmed in brass. Ten-finger leather liner. Illegible maker or ownership stamp on the back side of one of the liner fingers. No other readily visible markings.

Condition: Very good. Shows only minimal wear with some light occasional crazing and a few modest scuffs. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M.D.
