Description

American Leather Militia Officer's Shako, Circa 1840-45. Highly polished leather body in excellent condition mounted with a silver eagle and sunburst front plate, silver bands and visor also in excellent condition. Green paint on the underside of the visor has a name scratched on it. Leather backed chin strap terminating in star rosettes has areas of missing scales. 2 1/2" interior leather sweatband and attached drawstring headliner also in excellent condition. Retains its original red and white feather plume. Over-all a very attractive shako in excellent condition.
