Description

Superb 17th Century European Morion Helmet. Approximately 10-inches tall. This handsome helmet features a one-piece body in the traditional form with a remarkably tall roped comb. The base of the skull is bordered with naively-etched brass rosette washers secured by round-head lining rivets. The roped brim features sharply angled points fore-and-aft. A modestly-etched plume holder is riveted just left of center on the front of the helmet. The interior displays hammer marks and has been coated with a preservative coat of rust protection. Ex Peter Finer collection. Condition: Excellent. Exterior with scattered age spotting and occasional fine surface pits. The brim has small and two slightly larger holes.
