Description
Etched and Gilded Gorget with Leather Trim, 16th Century.With an opening of approximately 6-inches, bordered by decorative rivets over what appears to be original leather trim on the top lame. This is an impressive example of a early etched and gilded with its trim. Etched and gilded with a foliate design accented in gilt in six radiating bands. Metal is thin and roped in a simple pattern border all around. Hammered marks on the inside throughout. Rivets present including one to lock in gorget. Overall diameter of approximately 13-inches.
Condition: Very good for its age. Great eye appeal with leather trim. Handling wear and spots of pitting, dents and mars overall. Some small imperfections and period holes and loses. Leather with minor loses. Gilt with minor loses as well.
