Description
Complete Suit of Armor, 16-17th Century.Measuring approximately 67-inches; 81-inches overall on the wooden base. Finely detailed and nicely rope-turned elements scattered throughout. A great example true to detail and with the armor working as designed with articulated arms, elbows and leg joints. Pair of full leg defences. Complete gauntlets, fully articulated lames with riveted borders. Fitted with 17th century style spurs. Codpiece and Lance-rest present. No visible maker's marks. Sold without a sword. Internal parts hammered and fitted with rivets. Maximillian closed helmet. Suit is contained on wooden figural stand. Note: According to research, Suits of Armor of the sixteenth century followed civilian fashion, and for a time, codpieces were a prominent addition to the best full suits.
Condition: Very good to fine as configured and with age wear. Cleaned at some point. Light surface rust and patches of pitting present, moderately concentrating to helmet, backplate and sabaton area. Some period repairs overall and to helmet. Suit needs minor tightening and adjustments to display properly. Some replaced parts. Spur to right foot has some tip loss, both spurs spin properly.
