U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 521409, .45-70 caliber, 21 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear adjustable military sight. Blued finish. Top of breech marked: U.S. / MODEL / 1884. Undated lock marked with an eagle and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Faint V/P/(eagle) proof at base of barrel. Saddle ring. Varnished walnut stock. Carbine metal buttplate with cleaning tool reservoir. Property from the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr.

Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish, the balance a mottled plum grey patina with wear and heavy pitting present. Wood showing scuffs, dings and bruising throughout. No cleaning tool present. Action good. Pitted bore.
