Description

U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 416429, .45-70 caliber, 32 5/8-inch barrel. Blued finish. Lockplate marked: eagle / U.S. Springfield forward of hammer. Breechblock marked: U.S. / Model / 1884. Buffington rear sight. Faint cartouche on left side of stock and underneath near lower tang. Standard proofs on barrel. Standard two-piece triggerguard with grooved trigger. Together with leather sling marked: M.W.H. CO. Condition: Good as refinished. Retaining most of finish with scattered patches of pitting and surface rust. Replaced screws. Stock with numerous dents and scratches. Leather sling in fair condition with cracking and separations. Action good. Bore ok.
