Description

U.S. Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Rifle and Bayonet. Serial no. 276326, .45-70 caliber, 32 ½-inch round barrel with fixed front and adjustable rear sights. Lock undated; breech cover marked U.S. MODEL 1873. Blued. Walnut stock with two barrel bands, curved steel buttplate and cleaning rod. Sold with U.S. marked socket bayonet and scabbard.
Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 75-80% finish, the remainder worn to a smooth gray patina. Stock with handing wear including shallow dents, bruises and scratches. No cartouches visible. Small repair on the left side at the breech. Mechanically strong. Rifling worn. Bayonet with surface rust, otherwise good condition.
