Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle with Bayonet.Serial no. 87024, .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear ladder sight. Blued finish. Lock marked with (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873. Top of breech marked: MODEL / 1873 / (eagle head) / US. Smooth hardwood stock with sling swivels and ramrod. US metal buttplate. Sold along with US marked 18-inch socket bayonet.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with scattered wear and pitting. Noticeable scuffs, dings and bruising to wood. Action good. Bayonet showing age wear and pitting.
