U.S.Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 489287, .45 caliber, 32 5/8-inch barrel. Blued finish with case-hardened breechblock and tang. Buffington rear sight. Breech marked V/P/[eagle] and inspector's initial A. Breechblock marked U.S./Model/1884. Lock with American eagle and U.S./Springfield. Two-piece triggerguard and serrated trigger. Walnut stock with two sling swivel and ramrod. Buttplate marked U.S. Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of blue on barrel, primarily in protected areas, the balance a thin gray-blue patina. Fittings retain approximately 50-60% blue. Vibrant case colors possibly redone. Stock is very good with numerous dents and light soiling. Bright bore.
