Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1888 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 520075, .45-70 caliber, 32 ½-inch round barrel with hooded front sight and R marked rear sight. Breech cover marked U.S. MODEL 1884. Blued. Walnut stock with two barrel bands, sling swivels, stacking swivel and combination sliding ramrod bayonet in the fore end. Metal buttplate with trap for cleaning tools. Faint 1891 inspector's cartouche on the left side of the stock.Condition: Excellent as refinished and altered. Retaining virtually the entire new finish, mechanically sound and with a bright, clean bore. Stock lightly sanded.
