Description

U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 365966. .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel front blade and ladder rear sights. Low arch breech. Blued and case-hardened finish. American eagle and ,"U.S. SPRINGFIELD" on the lock. Two barrel bands and two sling swivels, one on the triggerguard. U.S.-marked steel buttplate. Steel cleaning rod. Walnut stock with inspector mark behind lower tang. Left wrist with 1886 dated cartouche.
Condition: Fine. Retaining approximately 40-50% blue, the balance thinning to a brown-gray patina with scattered fine pitting. Traces of case colors. Stock is fine with scattered dents, age wear and patina. Bright bore with wear and light pitting.
