Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1878 Trapdoor Rifle with Bayonet.Serial no. 267361, .45-70 caliber, 32-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Smooth walnut straight stock with two barrel bands, each stamped: U. Sling swivels and stacking swivel. U.S. marked metal carbine butt. Socket bayonet with 17-inch blade.
Condition: Very good as partially refinished. Overall showing noticeable signs of age, handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and scratches present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
