U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle.Serial no. 9668, .45-70 caliber, 32-1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear ladder sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Breech block marked: MODEL / 1873 / (eagle head) / U.S. Smooth hardwood straight stock with sling swivels and leather shoulder sling. U.S. stamped metal buttplate.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered dings and scuffs present to wood. Cleaning rod absent. Action good. Strong bore. Tom Mixon Collection
