Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle.Serial no. 118854, .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable folding rear sight. Blued finish. V / P / (eagle head) / P proof marks to left side of barrel. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873. Smooth walnut straight stock with two barrel bands, each stamped with a U. Sling swivels. Metal ramrod, triggerguard and buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth dark grey patina with some thinning at muzzle, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs, dings and bruising present top wood. Action crisp. Strong bore.
