Description
U.S. Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Rifle.Serial no. 85363X, .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivels. Metal cleaning rod. U.S. stamped metal carbine buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish, the balance a dark grey patina with signs of handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Strong bore. Tom Mixon Collection
