Description
U.S. Springfield 1865 Trapdoor Rifle.Unserialized, .50-70 caliber, 29-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: 1865, (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Breechblock stamped 1865 / (eagle head). Smooth hardwood straight stock with sling swivels. Metal triggerguard, ramrod and U.S. stamped carbine buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with honest handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
