Description

U. S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial No. 236998, .45-70 caliber, 32½-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued finish with casehardened breechblock. Two barrel bands, two sling swivels, stacking swivel and ramrod. Straight, one piece varnished walnut stock with curved metal buttplate. SWP inspector's cartouche with 1883 date stamped on the left wrist. Circle P firing proof stamped behind lower tang. Condition: Excellent. Retaining virtually all the original blue and casehardening. Stock with scratches and a few dings from storage rather than use. Mechanically crisp. Bright bore.
