Description
Springfield Model 1884 XC Carbine.Serial no. 335492, .45-70 caliber, 24-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear Buffington sight [marked XC]. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. V / P / (eagle head) proofs to left side of barrel. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling bent swivels. Grooved trigger. U.S. Stamped metal buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with thinning to relief edges, handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Crack to left side, just in front of saddle ring bar. Action good. Strong bore.
