Description

Smith Percussion Carbine. Serial No. 3040, .50 caliber, 21½-inch part round, part octagonal barrel with fixed German silver front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued barrel; case-hardened receiver and hammer. Sling ring bar and ring on the left side. Left side of receiver marked ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE/BALTIMORE U.S.A. and MANUFACTURED BY/AM'N. M'CH'N. WKS/SPRINGFIELD MASS. Walnut stock and fore-end with curved metal buttplate. Single barrel band. Inspector JH cartouche on the left side of the wrist.
Condition: Excellent as refinished. Barrel with pitting under the new finish, small chip at the toe of the stock, otherwise with little sign of wear. Bright bore.
