Description
Sharps New Model 1863 Military Rifle. Serial no. C38373, .52 caliber, 30-inch barrel with copper blade front and Lawrence patent graduated ladder rear sights. Blue and case-hardened finish. Three barrel bands and two sling swivels. Oct 5th, 1852 patent date on right side of lock. Left side marked, "C. SHARPS PAT./SEPT ???? 1848." Steel patch box.Condition: Very good as possibly re-finished. Barrel retaining approximately 60-70% blue thinning to a gray-brown mottled patina.. Small pits visible below surface. Barrel addresses are soft. Faded case colors. Stock very good with crisp inspector's mark on left side of buttstock. Lightly faded case colors on buttplate. Bright, clean bore.
