Sharps Model 1874 Heavy Sporting Rifle. Serial no. 160115 (receiver, barrel and buttplate 115), .45 caliber, 30-inch octagonal barrel with Bridgeport address, blade front and unmarked Lawrence high notch rear sights. Top barrel flat at breech marked: CAL. 45. Right barrel flat marked: 2 7/8. Bottom barrel flat with: 4/11/16. Left side of frame with Sharps Rifle Co. patent marking. Double-set triggers. Oil-finished walnut stock. Standard shotgun buttplate. Weight approximately 15 lbs.

Sold together with a Sharps Rifle Research letter from Dr. Labowskie confirming current configuration and that 160115 shipped in 1877 from Bridgeport to Frank E. Conrad in Fort Griffin, Texas.

Condition: Very good to fine as possibly period re-blued. Barrel with scattered patches of fine pitting. Moderate pitting to breech and lock plate and traces of silvered case colors. Stock is very good as re-varnished. Scattered dents and small gouges. Two 1 1/2-inch cracks to fore-end and minor wood loss at lock plate. Buttstock with hole, likely from period of use facilitating a sling. Bore with heavy wear and moderate pitting. Action excellent.
