Description
Remington Hepburn No. 3 Sporting Model Single Shot Rifle.Serial no. 3923 [lower tang and fore-end], .40 caliber, 28-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued finish barrel and case-hardened receiver. top of barrel marked: E. REMINGTONS & SONS ILION, N.Y. Left side of receiver marked: HEPBURNS PAT. / OCT. 7TH / 1879. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock and smooth fore-end. Metal buttplate.
Condition: Very good as configures. Retaining approximately 60-70% bluing to barrel with light touch ups to finish. Scattered signs of wear and pitting. Light traces of case colors to triggerguard and protected areas. Frame with a lacquer applied coating / residue. Wood retouched with mars and dents. Marred and replaced screws. Action and bore good.
