Description
Phoenix Breechloading Rifle.Serial no. 1786, .44 caliber, 32-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivel. Crescent metal buttplate. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 6247 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina, with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Scratches, scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
