J.H. Merrill First Model Percussion Carbine.

Serial no. 13425, .54 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Lock marked: 1863. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivel. Brass triggerguard. U.S. stamped brass carbine buttplate.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with noticeable age, handling wear and surface rust. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Poorly carved H to right side of stock. Moderately pitted bore. Action functions.
