Gallager Final Model Breechloading Carbine. Serial no. 23070, .52 caliber [chambered for Spencer 56-52 cartridge], 22 1/4-inch barrel. Extractor and firing-pin device in chamber. Iron mountings. Blued barrel and case-hardened frame. Walnut buttstock with case-hardened patchbox. Sling ring bar on left side. Lock plate marked: GALLAGER'S PATENT/JULY 17TH 1860/MANUFACTD BY/RICHARDSON & OVERMAN/PHILADA. One of 5,000 produced to fire the Spencer cartridge. Condition: Very good. Barrel with a thin gray-brown mottled patina. Traces of case colors remain mixed with age wear and patina. Wood also very good. Scattered dents and fine scratches. 4-inch crack to left side of stock. Strong bright bore with scattered light pitting.
