Description

Gallager Civil War Percussion Breechloading Saddle Ring Carbine.
Serial no. 13380, .52 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Lock marked: GALLAGER'S PATENT / JULY 17TH, 1860 and MANUFACTD BY / RICHARDSON & OVERMAN / PHILADA. Saddle ring. Smooth hardwood stock, with hinged patchbox. Metal buttplate.
Provenance: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Sold to benefit the Museum's collections and acquisitions.

Condition: Very good as partially refinished. Retaining approximately 70-80% of a thinning re-finish, with scattered signs of age, handling wear and patches of pitting. Noticeable scratches, dings and bruises to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
