Fort Griffin, Texas 1876
F.E. Conrad Shipped Sharps Model 1874 Heavy Sporting Rifles with
Factory Letters. Serial no. 158440, .44-90 caliber ( 2 5/8),
30-inch octagonal barrel with dovetailed blade front and ladder
rear sights. Barrel under fore arm is marked: DD, 158440, 11/9/16.
Lawrence patent mark on base of rear sight. Top barrel flat marked:
OLD RELIABLE, SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN., CALIBRE .44.
Right barrel flat with 06 and 96. Double set triggers. Bottom of
breechblock is unmarked. Left side with E / L. Varnished walnut
stock with pewter fore-end cap. Steel buttplate. Weight
approximately 16 lbs 5 oz.Sold together with factory letter signed by Dr. Moore confirming ship date to Ft. Griffin and current configuration except for varnished stocks. Shipped as "oil finished stocks."
Condition: Very good. Steel a mottled gray-brown patina with scattered light pitting. Fine tool marks observed on barrel. Traces of blue under fore arm. Stock fair showing some dryness and old repairs at wrist. Losses at butt near butt plate. Dents and stains commensurate with age. Heavy losses to fore-end. Bore fair to good with moderate pitting throughout. Action excellent.

Sold together with factory letter signed by R.L.Moore, Jr. MD. confirming ship date to Ft. Griffin and current configuration except for varnished stock. Shipped as "oiled finished stocks."
Condition: Fine. Barrel a smooth plum brown patina. Fine pitting at the muzzle. Receiver good with traces of silvered case colors. Small losses to stock, along with dents and bruises. Moderate pitting to breech.
