Engraved Sam Schlenker Schutzen Sporting Rifle.Unserialized, .38 caliber, 29-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear target sight. Top of barrel marked: SAM SCHLENKER - BRENHAM. Elaborately scroll engraved receiver, upper tang, triggerguard and buttplate. Dual triggers. Checkered walnut straight stock and smooth fore-end. Schützen rifles are known for their extremely heavy barrels, often octagonal in shape, which add significant weight to the rifle for stability during offhand shooting.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with thinning to relief edges, handling wear and fine patches of finish. Few scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Strong bore. Tom Mixon Collection
