Edward Maynard Second Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine.
Serial no. 14157, .50 caliber, 20-inch octagonal / round barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. G.W.S. stamped to left side of barrel. Saddle ring. Left side of frame marked: EDWARD MAYNARD / PATENTEE / MAY 27, 1851 / DEC. 6, 1859 and right side marked: MANUFACTURED BY / MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS. Smooth walnut straight stock, with two cartouches to left side. Metal carbine butt.

Condition: Excellent. Few thin spots, scuffs, scattered scratches and fine patches of pitting. Normal age / storage dings to wood. Action good. Bright bore.
