Description
Edward Maynard Mass Arms Co. Navy Carbine.Unserialized, .54 caliber, 20-inch octagonal to round barrel with fixed front rear sights. Blued and case-hardened finish. Right side of receiver marked: MANUFACTURED BY / MASS ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS; and EDWARD MAYNARD / PATENTEE / MAY 27 1851 / DEC 6 1859 to left side. G.W.S. stamped to left side of barrel. Smooth walnut straight stock. Metal buttplate.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with signs of handling wear, age and noticeable pitting. C3607 poorly engraved to left side of the barrel. Scattered Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
