Custer Era U.S. Springfield 1873 Trapdoor Cavalry Saddle Ring Carbine.

Serial no. 37705, .45-55 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear ladder sight. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873. Breechblock marked: MODEL / 1873 / (eagle head) / US. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivel. US stamped metal carbine buttplate.
Note: Serial number falls in the range for the ones sent to the 7th US Cavalry under Custer at Battle of Little Big Horn.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with scattered areas of handling wear and patches of pitting. Dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
