Description

Colt Model 1839 Carbine.

No visible serial number, 525 smoothbore caliber, 24-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Loading lever on right side of barrel. Smooth walnut straight stock. Some barrel address markings present [we can make out Colt and Paterson]. Metal buttplate.
According to Flayderman's Guide, approximately 900 made from 1838-41. The Model 1893 Carbine proved to be the most practical and popular of all Colt arms from the Paterson period. See [5B-013].
According to consignor notes, gun was purchased from Floyd Everhart in 1987 [Gun Report].

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with scattered signs of age, handling wear and pitting. Possible replaced parts including lever. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action not working. Moderately pitted bore.
