Cased U.S. Officer's Model 1875 Trapdoor Breechloading Rifle. Serial no. NVN. .45 caliber. 26-inch barrel with folding globe front sight and combination ramped and folding elevator sight. Case-hardened action and lock engraved with foliate scroll. Breech block marked: U.S. Model 1873. Hardwood cleaning rod with brass tip. Single ferrule. Nickel-plated engraved fore-end tip with floral design. Tang mounted folding peep sight with adjustable slide. Checkered straight grip stock of straight grain walnut. Checkered pistolgrip addition to stock. Issue buttplate with foliate scroll detail. The letter P in a circle on the underside of the stock at the rear of the checkering. Condition: Very good. Barrel shows 90-95% brown patina. Bore shows frosting and some areas of light pitting. Fore-end tip shows 80-90% nickel plating. Cleaning rod shows a re-finish and is frozen in-place. Action shows a silver patina with areas of staining. Wood shows nicks, scratches and impressions with considerable losses to the finish. Tang sight shows a brown patina. Buttplate shows a silver patina.
