C. Sharps New Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine.

Serial no. 68588 [upper tang], .52 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued and case-hardened finish. Right side of receiver marked: C. SHARP'S PAT. / OCT. 5TH, 1852. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Hinged patchbox to right side of stock. Metal buttplate. The Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine is a breechloading, single-shot percussion carbine used by Union cavalry during the Civil War. It features a lever-operated falling block action for faster loading than muzzleloaders and includes a saddle ring for easy attachment while mounted, making it well-suited for mobile troops.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable handling wear and surface rust. Heavy dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
