Description

Revolutionary War British Iron Carronade Swivel Gun.

Large English crown on top of 23-inch barrel with 1 3/4-inch bore diameter. 29 1/2-inches in overall length. Gun is mounted on a large wood base, measuring 24-inches in height and with a base of 18-inches wide. Plaque featuring number 2228, which collates to an inventory number on a book page provided by the consignor. the Overall height is 34 1/2-inches. According to consignor notes and previous auction records, this Iron Swivel gun came off of one of the British war vessels in the fleet at the battle of Charleston, S.C. during the Revolutionary War. Lot comes along with auction information from a prior offering, dated June 10, 2013.

Conditon: Very good. Overall showing honest age, handling wear and pitting. Noticeable dings and scuffs present to wooden base.
