Description

Very Fine US M1855 .58 Caliber Percussion Rifled Musket, Springfield 1859. Again a weapon that was issued in the early stages of the war and seeing extensive use throughout especially in the hangs of New York state units and very difficult to obtain on today's market in this fine, completely original, untouched condition. All metal generally smooth and clean with some scattered light brown patina, absolutely no rust or pitting. Mechanically crisp, excellent bore. Crisp markings although the gun does not bear a breech date and shows no signs of ever having had one, likely an armory oversight. The gun is complete and original in every respect. Wood excellent just showing minor use and very sharp with good inspectors' marks. An exceptionally nice M1855.
