Description

Exceptional Condition and Very Scarce US M1861 .58 Caliber Percussion Rifled Musket, Springfield 1861. Doubtless one of the rarest Civil War issue longarms, especially in this superb condition as nearly all of these weapons were issued early in the war and saw heavy use with high attrition rate. All metal bright and clean, near mint. Absolutely no rust or pitting. Crisp action, excellent bore and fine markings including crisp 1861 breech date. Wood shows some minor honest use, untouched with nice rich patina and very sharp with fine inspectors marks including Erskine S. Allen, Springfield inspector. Rare opportunity to obtain a M1861 dated Springfield, dated 1861 in this superb condition.
