Description
Colt Model 1855 Revolving Rifle.Serial no. 2230, .44 caliber, 27-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding leaf sight. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer. Varnished walnut straight stock and forearm with two barrel bands and two sling swivels. Brass-tipped metal ramrod. Crescent metal buttplate. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 8895 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.
Condition: Good. Finish a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of wear and patches of pitting. Heavy pitting to receiver, cylinder and barrel bands. Noticeable scuffs, dings and bruising throughout wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
