450/400-3-inch Nitro Express Boxlock Ejector Double Rifle marked W. J. Jeffery. Serial no. 2926 .450-400 - 3 inch. 24-inch barrels with smooth flat quarter rib marked: W. J. Jeffery & Co. Ltd. London S.W., with stand rear sight and two folding leaves all with platinum lines. Ramped spear front sight. Underside of barrels stamped: CWA. Blued boxlock with Greener-style crossbolt. Extractor. Disc-set strikers. Automatic safety. Finely checkered pistolgrip stock of contrasting slightly figured walnut. Drop points. Steel grip cap and heel and toe plates. Vacant nickel silver oval. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release. Sling eyes.Data: Proof: Birmingham, Nitro, 400 ex, 55 gr Ball 400 gr max. Pull: 14 3/8 inches. Weight: 10 ½ pounds. Condition: Excellent, as redone. Barrels show 98-99% reblued frosted finish over some small areas of fine pitting. The rib inscription appear to be a later addition. Action shows 98-99% reblued finish. Excellent bores with some slight frosting ahead of the chambers. Very well defined rifling through out the barrels. Refinished stock shows a few light impressions on the right side. Metal is slightly proud in places. Action is tight. Refinished fore-end with a couple of light marks.
