Description

U.S. Springfield Model 1842 Percussion Musket. No visible serial number, .69 caliber, 41 1/2-inch round barrel. Metal parts finished bright. Three barrel bands, the front with integral blade sight. Both sling swivels present. Lock with [eagle]/U.S. forward of hammer; behind hammer marked vertically SPRING/FIELD/1850. Barrel proof marked. Ramrod with trumpet shaped head. Walnut stock with very faint inspector's cartouche on the left side.
Condition: Very good. Bright finish with scattered pitting and dark spotting with powder pits on the breech and hammer. Stock lightly sanded and rubbed with linseed oil. Strong bore and crisp action.
