U.S. Model 1842 Springfield Musket Dated 1844. .69 caliber, 42-inch round barrel, breech marked V/P/[eagle head] A/R/P. Lockplate with American eagle and shield. Tail of lock marked Springfield/1844. Bright finish. Steel ramrod with trumpet shaped head. Oil-finished walnut stock. Triggerguard sling swivel. Sold together with contemporary brown leather military sling by Brauer. Condition: Fine. Gray patina to steel and signs of having been cleaned. Fine pitting near breech. Small nicks on top of barrel. Stock with scattered light handling marks.
