U.S. Model 1842 Springfield Musket Dated 1844. .69 caliber, 42-inch round barrel, breech marked V/P/[eagle head] A/R/P. Lockplate with American eagle and shield. Tail of lock marked Springfield/1844. Bright finish. Steel ramrod with trumpet shaped head. Oil-finished walnut stock. Triggerguard sling swivel. Sold together with contemporary brown leather military sling by Brauer. Condition: Fine. Gray patina to steel and signs of having been cleaned. Fine pitting near breech. Small nicks on top of barrel. Stock with scattered light handling marks. Small dents at forearm and near butt.
