Description
U.S. Harpers Ferry Armory Model 1842 Percussion Musket.Unserialized, .69 caliber, 33-inch round barrel. Marked "HARPERS / FERRY / 1851" behind the hammer and with an eagle in front of the hammer. Barrel marked "V / P" near the breech. The original walnut stock has been shortened, retaining one of the three original barrel bands. Metal buttplate.
Condition: Fair as altered. Metal with a smooth, mottled brown patina. Pitting to hammer. The original stock has been shortened, as noted and displays moderate surface dents, scratches and abrasions. Bore dark but the action remains crisp.
