U.S. Colt Model 1861 Percussion Musket Dated 1863.

Unserialized, .58 caliber, 39-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Left side of barrel stamped: V / P / (eagle head) proof marks and STEEL. Lock marked: 1863 and U.S. / COLTS PT. F A MFG. / HARTFORD, CT. Smooth walnut straight stock with three barrel bands (each stamped with a U) and two sling swivels. Metal ramrod and buttplate.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with noticeable signs of handling wear, age and pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Some loss to right side along fore-end edge. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
