Description
Unsigned Percussion Half Stock Target Rifle C. 1860 30 7/8" .38 caliber rifled octagonal barrel. Adjustable rear notch sight on 4 1/2" base, small adjustable blade front sight. Screw and pin remain on top barrel flat from another sight. Two screw barrel tang, brass spacer below nipple base, single screw lock marked "Josh Golcher". German silver trigger guard, butt plate and 'toilet seat' cap/patch box. Barrel secured by a single pin. Mechanically fine. The gun shows heavy use overall. Bore rough, nipple crushed. There is a diagonal crack from the barrel to the front trigger extension. Small replaced pieces of wood above front of lock, right side near trigger guard and left side of barrel tang. Barrel tang and breech plug have been repaired. No ramrod, the wood with some scattered scrapes and dents. An excellent project for the 'basement gunsmith' craftsman.Auction Info
