Description
Engraved Holland and Holland Hammer Double Rifle.Serial no. 5212, 450/400 BPE, 26-inch barrels with solid rib. Blued finish with case-hardening frame. Both sides of lockplate engraved HOLLAND & HOLLAND. Top of barrels near folding sights marked HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET, LONDON. English cheekpiece. Level Flat Rib with express sights at 150 [standing] and 200. Fine scroll engraving throughout. Double triggers. Silvered oval escutcheon on stock. Checkered pistolgrip [horn cap] and splinter forearm. Sling eyes.
Please note: Underneath stamped on barrel breech flat; multiple [proofs], including [crown] over P, [crown] over V among others. Also 450/400. Each barrel marked HENRY'S PATENT with 5212 (steel) on flat in between barrels. Gun weights approximately 8.25 lbs.
Condition: Fine as configured and refinished, with minor handling and fine marks from storage. Fine scratches present. Case-hardening present, but turning a silvered gray finish. Fine spots of minor pitting to protected areas. Wood with few bumps and mars present, some scuffs to right side and cheekpiece. Horn cap with rim loss. Evidence of sanding and lacquering present. Buttstock with minor wear. Bores excellent, action crisp. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
